Why the location matters more than you would expect
Interpretation equipment is portable, so in principle it can go anywhere. In practice, where the crew is based decides three things: how quickly someone can be at the venue if something needs attention, whether a venue survey is a two-hour errand or a day's travel, and what the transport costs.
Being based in Oslo means all three fall in your favour for events in the capital. It also means we have usually been in the room before.
Venues we work in regularly
Oslo's conference venues differ enormously in what they allow. A modern purpose-built hall poses no problems. A listed nineteenth-century interior may restrict where anything can be fixed, rolled or plugged in — and those constraints are discovered by looking, not by reading a floor plan.
We have delivered interpretation and listening equipment across the range: concert halls, hotel ballrooms, conference centres, university auditoriums and government premises. The practical consequence for you is that the survey is usually quick, and the surprises are usually already known.
Organising from abroad
A large share of the international conferences we work on are organised by people who are not in Norway, and often have not been to the venue. That is a normal way to work, and it puts a few specific things on us rather than on you:
- We carry out the venue survey and report back with what is and is not possible
- We deal directly with the venue's technical staff, in Norwegian
- We handle transport, rigging, the technical rehearsal and de-rigging
- You get one project manager, in English, for the whole delivery
Invoicing, VAT and what foreign companies can reclaim are covered separately under VAT in Norway.
What we deliver in Oslo
ISO 4043 interpreter booths with consoles and technicians; receivers and headsets in any quantity, with IR where the content must stay in the room; and, where it is wanted, the rest of the conference technology — sound, screens, presentation operation, streaming and recording — as a single delivery rather than several suppliers.
Two of our larger Oslo deliveries are written up in detail, in Norwegian: 1000 receivers at Oslo Freedom Forum and interpreter booths at an international parliamentary conference.
Outside Oslo
We cover the whole country through local partners — Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Tromsø, Kristiansand, Bodø and beyond. The full list is on the Norwegian coverage page, and the principle is the same everywhere: local crew rather than a long drive.
